Seldom does a book get my attention as deeply as Lisa  Gardner’s work “Fear Nothing” had managed to do. Absolutely chilling, and superbly written, Mrs. Gardener used a very unique approach to tell this tale, by switching between third and first person, giving us a unique insight into the thought process of a seemingly straightforward, yet interestingly complicated, main character named Dr. Adeine Glen.

From the outside, Dr. Glen is a very sophisticated, highly functioning adult with a rare genetic infliction – she can not feel pain. Yet she manages her day to day life well, even if, added to her already disabling disease, she has not one, but two serial killers in her family.

When another serial killer surfaces, she works together with Boston Detective D.D. Waren to catch this madman.

The twists and turns of this book left me breathless and rooting for people I thought at first as evil, every page a surprise. Even though this book is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone book, as I have done. But be warned, once you read one book by Lisa Gardner, you will want to come back for more.

Book Review: See Her Run by A.K. Leigh

A suspenseful romance that made my heart race! I fell in love with the characters from the beginning, all of them well constructed, from the two main characters, Diana and Jon, to the smaller characters, which were placed into the story with their own, very well thought-out traits and backgrounds. It felt like coming home, reading about people, whom you want to spent time, with, dealing with an impossible situation of hiding from a painful past. I do not want to share any details of this romance, as every one of the twists and turns need to be carefully discovered, and adds to the suspense, but I can tell you, that every word is worth the ride.

Waiting On Wednesdays: Hush by Karen Robards

Once my already too long list of books to review dies down a little, I am looking forward to reading this recently released novel by Karen Robards, titled Hush.

Book Review: Dark Prayer by Natasha Mostert

A Thriller that takes a little long to get to the meat of plot but the story thankfully begins to pick up on speed after the first few chapters. The characters are well-developed, actually too well-developed, which led to the slower beginning. I personally prefer novels that get to the point a lot faster, but after a rocky start, this book became a much more intense ride, that is worth the wait. With the main character in a fugue state, having lost all memory of her past life, and having created a  new identity for herself, the Author managed to make a believable, yet mesmerizing story, with plenty of action.
Dark Prayer is my introduction to  Natasha Mostert, and after this book, I am intrigued to find out more about her work.

A fast paced, intriguing romance with plenty of plot twist that keep the reader engaged. Highly entertaining, with a variety of characters that all have their flaws, but are show a willingness to grow. While the male lead – Hatch – is at the beginning a little abrasive, to the point that it took me for a moment out of the otherwise very well constructed story, he redeems himself in the later parts of the book, and it becomes easy enough to understand, that the strong female lead – Grace – fell for him (again).

I love that the Author, despite the focus on romance, managed to keep up a very high paced plot, that rivals better mystery novels. I am very much looking forward to the next installment of the Apostles Series.
