Travel – A Haiku

Travel – A Haiku

Lost in a daydream
motor rumbling beneath me
endless empty road

In June and July, we spend a lot of time traveling throughout the United States. Even though we saw some interesting places and people along the way, the driving itself could be monotone and dreary at times. I wrote this Haiku while we were traveling through rural areas of North Dakota, which even in June felt chilly, especially for someone traveling from Florida.

Nightmare – A Haiku

Haiku: Nightmare

Haunted by your dark
twisted soul perverted lies
nightmares burn so deep

Being touched by darkness, allows us to appreciate being able to see the light. Sometimes the darkness finds itself into my art, nightmares of long ago past, those childhood fears we all come across. Some nightmares are real, others simply a part of an overactive imagination, which can be a curse or a blessing,  depending on how you choose to use it.

“Nightmare” both the digital art print above and the Haiku, though, stem from real nightmares, those who haunt us far into adulthood, long beyond the actual occurrences that scarred us so deep. Expressing those nightmares, rather than burying them into a place where they can fester and grow, are healing experiences.

If you are being haunted by your own personal nightmares, try to find a way to creatively express them. Release them by bringing them into the light. And if those nightmares stem from abuse, get help.

May your days be filled with sunshine and your dreams with hope.
