Hidden Words – A Flash Fiction

Words Forever Lost By Avalon Media

Words Forever Lost By Avalon Media

I knew it was you, who had been here, marking the words in those many books, a clever way of showing me you were okay, but not clever enough. The same markings that let me here, let him to you, always a step ahead of me, as I stumbled blindly with no resources to find you while he had the world at his disposal. The danger you faced was greater than our love, paying the ultimate price for a forbidden moment together. Now, without you keeping me safe, I will have to be ready to face him alone.

To live a creative life
we must lose our fear
of being wrong
j.c. pierce

What are you afraid of most? As artists and creatives, we often explore our own fears, as well as those of our audience, pushing it further than most, beyond that barrier that keeps others from taking action.
Being a creative person is playing at the edge of fear, pushing ourselves, even if we take the chance of being wrong, the chance of not reaching the desired outcome, the desired emotional connection. It takes bravery to be a creative person, an artist, and author.
Embrace your fears, and overcome them.

The End Of Everything – A Flash Fiction

He scared me, with such a profoundness that I knew I would never be the same. Not that he was threatening, this fragile, old man with the broad rimmed hat, but his eyes, gazing at me with the intensitivy of a powerful personality, borred into my soul, and left a mark. His words, as broken as his body, where humblingly simple, yet held within them the moment I had been waiting for, dreading and hoping to never hear anyone say to me.
“It has begun!”

Holding Onto Hope – A Poem

hope (1)

the sound of a fight
echoes through the dreary house
no longer refuge

from where can I steal
a little sense of peace, lost
somewhere in the dark

Foreigner – A Haiku

Foreigner - A Haiku

my identity
crisis unfolds – worlds collide
where do I belong?

born in the midst of
those who see me, as the one
belonging elsewhere

lost, I search for a
little compassion, just once
so fear can subside

This post was inspired by a television show on Germany TV, where comedians and poets, who happen to be Muslim – and have spent most of their lives, if not all of it, in Germany –  deal with the current tension, by using humor, art, and words to relief some of the fear of extremism.

Extremism goes both ways – not only from those whom we see murdering people, but also in our reaction to those who share nationality and/or faith with those whom done those atrocities. The veiled woman in the store, or the Middle Eastern gentleman passing by is not responsible in a personal sense for these deaths. Lets keep that in mind, and create dialogue, instead of more fear and hate.

do you want to see
