The Tea – A Flash Fiction

“Soon”, she said to the impatient child, stirring the tea, the clouds of steam rising above the slightly cracked cup, slowly allowing the brew of roots to cool to a consumable temperature.
She tried not to frown, her eyes filled with a sorrowful smile as she nodded reassuringly at the little one.
This would have to make due for now, no breakfast available to fill their empty stomachs, but at least, the heat the tea brought would allow them to move about in the bitter cold.
For a moment, a flicker of despair rushed across her face, but she caught herself, adjusting it back to the well-practiced facade she had worn now far too long.

This post was inspired by the Daily Post prompt: Getting Seasonal.

This season is special to me out of many reason. A few, I want to mention here are my daughter’s and son’s birthdays, and our Yule celebrations, which all fall together within a matter of a week and a half. So while hectic, it is a beautiful time to share and spend time together. I am currently drying some apples and oranges for the table decorations for the Winter Solstice celebration, and will purchase the last few candles needed to be put on the altar.

I wish you all a joyful and peaceful holiday season, however you choose to celebrate it!

Passion

Passion - A Daily Prompt Post

How you know if you’re passion is to be a writer:

Answer the following question:

If money and time was not an option, meaning you had plenty of all, and all of your worries are taken care off, what would you do with your time?

If your answer is writing, stick with it. Make time, forge time, take a set time where you pretend that all of the money in the world is yours, and there are no other chores waiting for you and WRITE!

If you answer is something else, find a way to make that your life goal.
