Powerful Flashlights For Everyday Use

I was looking for small, versatile flash lights after a few short but annoying power outages in our neighborhood.
The Byblight cree LED Flashlight Torch was exactly what I needed. Available in a 4 pack (for the price of one decent
flash light), I have now have a flash light in every bathroom, the kitchen, one for the living room. They are compact, fitting
in the smaller drawers without taking away too much space. They are made out of metal, no cheap plastic, that breaks after one drop, but that also makes them a little heavier. I do not like that their loop at the end of each flash light is really
small, only a small child’s hand could fit through them, so the loop is pretty much more for deco than practicality.

These are the specs:

Uses cree LED with a lifespan of over 50000 hours
– Max outputs a blinding 150 lumens
– 3 Light modes: Lightly press the button to switch in high, low and strobe
– Adjustable focus: Simply controlled by pulling the head
– Compact design for everyday carry and all kind of outdoor activities
– Solid state and ergonomic designed durable aluminum alloy
– Powered by 3x 1.5v AAA battery, easy-to-get, Not Included
– Pack of 4

Specification
* Powered By: 3 x 1.5v AAA Not Included

* Max Brightness: 150 lumens

Overall I am very pleased with these four flashlights. If you are looking for inexpensive, small flash lights that are
going to last you for a while, these set is the way to go,

Girl Gone London - A Book Review

Title: Girl Gone London – An American Girl’s Guide To Studying Abroad In London

Author: Girl Gone London

Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

The reason I was interested in a book about studying abroad is because of my daughter. As a young person who is about to go to College, and with a European Mother ( I was born in Germany), she is very aware of the possibilities and opportunities of studying abroad.

Still, I was not informed enough about the details to help her make a well-researched decision if  she would decide to study out of the country, and help her to decide where that would be.

This guide is a great place to start getting the information needed to make these decisions.

Very well written, in a light conversational and entertaining tone, Girl Gone London’s book  is a quick and comfortable read filled with plenty of detailed information. For example, I did not know that it was difficult for a student from the US to open a bank account in the UK, a very important point that needs to be kept in mind when you are planning on staying for more than 6 months in the UK.

I am glad that I was given a copy of this book to review, and I handed it as soon as I was done reading it, to my daughter, convinced that she will be able to make a more informed decision about what her educational future will look like, and what possibilities she has from here on out.

I thank the Author for giving me this peace of mind.

Blessings

Book Review: Making Vegan Frozen Treats

Is there a way to make ice cream and frozen desserts healthy, cruelty-free, vegan and yummy? The following book is attempting to teach us just that:

Book Review: Making Vegan Frozen Treats

Title: Making Vegan Frozen Treats: 50 Recipes for Nondairy Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, and Other Delicious Desserts. A Storey BASICS® Title

Author: Nicole Weston

Publisher: Storey Publishing

Release Date: March 24th, 2015

Rating: 5/5 Stars

What a delightful book, filled with information and recipes that are easy to follow, yet produce a wonderful result! I am impressed by the easy-going style, and the clear instructions of this recipe book, that not only includes 50 recipes, but additional information for anyone who is transitioning to a vegan diet, or has already adopted the lifestyle. Even if you are not following this way of life, this book can open your eyes to the possibilities of treating yourself with healthier choices. What is not to love? The chocolate ice cream alone makes me want to run and get a second ice cream maker. But the Vanilla and Toasted Coconut Ice Cream is my all time favorite. I am inspired by the possibilities!

Book Review: Closer Than You Think by Karen Rose

Closer Than You Think - A Review

Title: Closer Than You Think

Author: Karen Rose

Publisher: Signet

Release Date: February 3rd, 2015

Rating: 5/5 Stars

This book left me breathless. This is a very fast paced, romantic mystery that had me from the moment I began reading it. First of all, I was impressed by Karen Rose’s tight writing style, that precisely seemed to hit the right notes. No lengthy, unnecessary prose, but filled with so much detail, that I was impressed that she was able to keep all of the details and plot twists, as well as the large amount of characters in perfect order.

Filling up 678 pages with nothing but a dense plot, that had the perfect amount of twists, she managed to create believable characters that came to life on the page. The two main characters were memorable and the romance not rushed, even though the story on takes place over a short period of time,  yet somehow she managed to make the quick connection plausible.

This was my introduction to this Author, but I am very much looking forward to reading a lot more of her. Best book of 2015 so far.

Book Review: The Healing Wisdom of Birds by Lesley Morrison

The Healing Wisdom of Birds - A Review

Title: The Healing Wisdom of Birds: An Everyday Guide to Their Spiritual Songs & Symbolism

Author: Lesley Morrison

Publisher: Llewellyn Worldwide

Rating: 5/5 Stars

I have been looking for a thorough book on the wisdom of birds, and after a long search, I finally came across a volume that fit my needs, and that I truly enjoyed. Mrs. Morrison created a friendly, thoughtful book, which dove deeper into the subject matter than most of the other books on the subject by including information on Goddesses with Bird symbolism, to detailed guides on how to connect to a specific bird. Written in a wonderfully warm tone, that did not read like a lecture, but more like a caring conversation, the Author created a book, to which I will return to often for reference.

Book Review: Kaijin by Devon Henry

download (58)

Title: Kaijin
Author: Devon Henry
Genre: Short Fiction
Release Date: July 29th, 2014
Rating: 5/5 Stars

Short story collections are tricky for me to read, because I usually find only a few gems in them, having to shuffle through those which I did not connect with, and then lacking the motivation to go on, and read through the rest. This was not the case with Devon Martin’s self-published work Kaijin. Written mostly in first person present tense (with the exception of one story), this collection stays true to its theme of women who do not take things as they are, but overcome, or destroy those in their way. Empowering, fantastical stories that do not take themselves too seriously, are carefully constructed in this collection and are a worthy read, if you are looking for bite size morsels of entertainment.
I am looking forward to seeing this Author evolve from these shorter stories to full length work, and will keep my eye out for any of her future projects. If you like out of the ordinary short stories, from a women’s perspective, read this book.
Kaijin is available in Amazon in Kindle Format, on Kindle Unlimited and as in  Paperback Format.
