Applause – A Flash Fiction

Applause - A Flash Fiction
There are many reasons to reach for a goal. Revenge, desire, passion, or a deep personal drive to give back to the people whom are in your care, are common.
But so is envy, and it was my motivator, my reasons to stay up late at night, to rehearse my lines with great care, and to end up on this stage.
I wanted, no – needed – her to feel the sting of envy, that she tried to cultivate within me all of her life.
Here, at the prime of my life, knowing that she was watching, boiling with envious rage within her, I smiled, fully embracing the applause directed toward me.

  1. Ooh – sounds great. Nothing like envy to get your blood boiling. Oh – I’m on the blog hop path. Just stopped in – hope you have a great weekend! Sound like you ARE celebrating the small things! Well done.
